Metal Groupage

Shepherds' Metal Groupage service is a unique operation that has evolved to cater for the demanding needs of a specialist customer base. Groupage services are provided to metals and engineering sector companies requiring deliveries of non-standard size products (i.e. steel bars, billets, blanks, rods, tube, ingots, slabs etc.).

To support this service, Shepherds have equipped their 50,000 sq ft trans-docking warehouse with 6 x 5 tonne overhead cranes and electro magnet crane lifts, as well as investing in a range of flatbed vehicles ideally suited to carrying non-standard metal products.

General Groupage

Shepherds' General Groupage service provides customers with a choice of groupage, part load and full load movements. The company offers same-day and next-day delivery service, along with tailor made solutions to specific customer requirements.

Shepherds has a proven capability to provide resources to cope with rapid changes in volume and demand. The company's fleet of vehicles includes curtain sided, curtain sided with tail lift and a variety of tractor units and trailer types.

Palletised Distribution

As a member of the Palletline network, Shepherds is able to provide a quality nationwide next day and economy palletised delivery service.

Shepherds is one of the original shareholding members of Palletline, with involvement dating back to 1996, when the company routed freight nightly through Palletline's Coventry Hub. Since then, Palletline has seen substantial growth, both in terms of members and pallets handled through the network. Palletline has also relocated its Central Hub to a state of the art 250,000 sq ft facility near Birmingham International Airport.
